Paths to Wealth Through Common Stocks Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Paths to Wealth through Common Stocks contains one original concept after another, each designed to greatly improve the results of those who self-manage their investments -- while helping those who rely on professional investment advice select the right advisor for their needs. Originally written by investment legend Philip A. Fisher in 1960, this timeless classic is now reintroduced by his well-known and respected son, successful money manager Ken Fisher, in a new Foreword. Filled with in-depth insights and expert advice, Paths to Wealth through Common Stocks expands upon the innovative ideas found in Fisher's highly regarded Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits -- summarizing how worthwhile profits have been and will continue to be made through common stock ownership, and revealing why his method can increase profits while reducing risk. Many of the ideas found here may depart from conventional investment wisdom, but the impressive results produced by these concepts -- which are still relevant in today's market environment -- will quickly remind you why Philip Fisher is considered one of the greatest investment minds of our time.

Stock Market Trading Rules Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Back in 2001, The Harriman House Book of Investing Rules was compiled and published. The project was a huge success, the rules provided by the contributors were fascinating, insightful and entertaining, and for the first time the book pooled together collected wisdom of 150 of the world's greatest traders in one place. One of the many strengths of the rules that were written for and included in the original publication was their timeless quality - these gems of investing and trading wisdom apply to a range of markets across a spread of time periods and are not confined to one market or one set of circumstances. And so it is that the decision was made to republish the original rules in a more condensed form and in a new format. In this eBook you will find just that; 80 sets of trading rules from expert international traders. As with the original publication, these rules provide condensed knowledge from experts about what they consider to the key determinants of trading success. You will notice that the experts do not agree, this is intentional as trading is a diverse and conflicting pursuit, and you will notice that the rules are not comprehensive, this is also intentional, as this is a reference guide to be dipped into and to encourage you to take up further reading elsewhere on subjects that appeal to you. Traders of all experience levels will find these rules useful in clarifying aspects of their trading approach. The original publication of 150 rules is also available as an eBook, from all good online retailers. www.harriman-house.com/investingrules

The Idle Investor Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

3 simple strategies to earn high returns and beat the professionals Would you like to use a simple, low-risk investing system that beats market indexes and fund manager performance over the long term, but requires only a few minutes of your time each month? Does it sound like a lot of hard work? It's not - even the laziest investor can achieve it. The Idle Investor includes three straightforward DIY strategies for long-term investing. All you have to do is follow the simple rules. Each method requires only a limited amount of your time and they all make use of easily accessible, low-cost funds. The reasons why the strategies work and everything else you need to know to put them into practice is explained clearly, with numerous worked examples. The three strategies are: 1. The Bone Idle Strategy: Part of your portfolio is allocated to shares and part is allocated to bonds, with adjustments only required twice a year. The rest of the time you do nothing. 2. The Summer Hibernation Strategy: For part of the year your portfolio is allocated to shares and for part of the year it is allocated to bonds. Once again, adjustments to the portfolio are only required twice per year. The rest of the time you do nothing. 3. Multi-Asset Trending Strategy: A simple trend-following method determines whether to hold your portfolio in shares or bonds. For this strategy you will need to check your investments and make adjustments once a month. Even on the very few occasions each year when action is required - twice a year for strategies 1 and 2, and once a month for strategy 3 - you’ll only spend a few minutes checking your portfolio and making simple changes. The activity levels range from yearly rebalancing, for the laziest investor, through to monthly reallocation, for those who are more active. How much you do depends on how lazy you are feeling. Testing the three Idle Investor strategies for the period 1990 to 2012 resulted in average annual returns of up to 28%. Compare this to a buy-and-hold approach of investing in UK shares, which would have delivered 8.5% per year over the same period, and you can see that being idle doesn’t mean being unsuccessful! If you are looking for a straightforward investing method that lets you get on with your life while your money grows in the background, then become an Idle Investor.

Strategic Value Investing: Practical Techniques of Leading Value Investors Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

Benjamin Graham referred to it as his “margin of safety.” Seth Klarman favors it over all other investment methods. Warren Buffett uses it to make millions for his investors. It’s called value investing, and you can make it work wonders for your portfolio. All you need is money to invest, a little patience—and this book. Strategic Value Investing reveals everything you need to know to build a world-class portfolio using value investing as your north star. Written by experts on valuation and financial analysis, this comprehensive guide breaks it all down into an easy-to-implement process. The authors explain the ins and outs of determining when a stock is undervalued, then purchasing it and selling it for a profit when the rest of the world learns what you knew all along. With Strategic Value Investing, you’ll learn how to: Distinguish between the various measures of value, including going concern, replacement value, fair market value, book value, and intrinsic value Identify undervalued companies before everyone else, and know what to look for, what to avoid, when to buy, and when to sell The authors teach you how to establish a dispassionate value investing philosophy tailored to your needs. Equally important, they provide the tools you need to adhere to this often contrarian approach regardless of your emotions or crowd sentiment. Get in before the crowd—and get out when the price is right with Strategic Value Investing. Praise for Strategic Value Investing “A book that has much the same character as a good value investor: calm, disciplined, with a grasp both of broad theory and of how to apply it.” —JOHN AUTHERS, senior investment columnist, Financial Times “This comprehensive look at valuation techniques is not only insightful, but can be easily put to use by individual and professional investors alike.” —CHARLES ROTBLUT, CFA, Vice President, the American Association of Individual Investors “Offers a sound fundamental perspective for those looking to deepen their analysis around stocks. A great resource for all types of value investors.” —HEATHER BRILLIANT, CFA, global head of equity research at Morningstar and member of the CFA Institute Board of Governors “This book is of Real Value! It updates the pioneering work of Ben Graham and Phillip Fisher, blending the valuation techniques of the masters (such as Warren Buffett) and provides institutional and individual investors the A to Z of value investing from a practitioner perspective.” —JOHN MAGINN, CFA, EVP & CIO, Mutual of Omaha (retired) and coeditor of Managing Investment Portfolios “An actionable road map for implementing a disciplined value investing strategy. Very much in the Ben Graham style. The sophisticated individual investor will find this comprehensive digest a continual and timeless reference.” —WALLACE FORBES, CFA, President of Forbes Investors Advisory Institute, Division of Forbes magazine “Many books propose to help you learn how to become a better value investor. This one, which is bound to become a staple of every value investor’s library, delivers on its promise.” —ROBERT POWELL, editor of Retirement Weekly and columnist of “MarketWatch”

A Few Good Eggs in One Basket Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle

In a stock market environment dominated by professional investors, A Few Good Eggs in One Basket o?ers a plain-talk approach to pro?tability by selecting and managing an investment portfolio of common stocks for an individual. Author Richard L. Gunderson, who has been an investor for more than forty years, outlines an enduring framework that improves the odds for the individual investor to exceed the performance of the market over the long term by buying good companies at bargain prices. He outlines what constitutes a good company and how to determine when a price meets the test of being a bargain. A Few Good Eggs in One Basket also helps individual investors by discussing what to look for; where to look; when to buy; when to sell; and how many stocks to own. A Few Good Eggs in One Basket presents a prescription designed to take advantage of opportunities created by market overreaction to bad news and disappointing results. Gunderson believes there are always bargains at any time and in any market. The challenge is to consistently apply a disciplined approach to identifying the unusual and favorable opportunities and concentrating a portfolio on those stocks representing the best combination of overall quality and intrinsic value.
