Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general - also known as her tough-as-talons mother - has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders. But when you're smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away . . . because dragons don't bond to 'fragile' humans. They incinerate them. With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother's daughter - like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant. She'll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise. Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret. Alliances will be forged. Lives will be lost. Traitors will become allies . . . or even lovers. But sleep with one eye open because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die. Fourth Wing is only the beginning. The deadly second year at Basgiath awaits. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros Summary Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros A Comprehensive Summary Violet Sorrengail, a twenty-year-old, had plans to live a peaceful life surrounded by books and history in the Scribe Quadrant. However, her commanding general mother, who is as tough as nails, has unexpectedly ordered Violet to join the aspiring dragon riders in Navarre. The problem is, Violet is smaller and more fragile than others, making her vulnerable to the dragons' fiery wrath. With a scarcity of dragons willing to form bonds, most candidates would harm Violet to increase their own chances of success. Others would target her simply because she is her mother's daughter, like the formidable and merciless wingleader, Xaden Riorson. To survive, Violet must rely on her intelligence and cunning. Meanwhile, the war outside intensifies, the kingdom's protective defenses are weakening, and the death toll continues to rise. Adding to the turmoil, Violet suspects that the leadership is concealing a dreadful secret. Amidst this treacherous environment, everyone at Basgiath War College, whether friends, enemies, or lovers, has their own hidden motives because only two outcomes await those who enter: graduation or death. Restoration Staging, 1660-74 Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Restoration Staging 1660–74 cuts through prevalent ideas of Restoration theatre and drama to read early plays in their original theatrical contexts. Tim Keenan argues that Restoration play texts contain far more information about their own performance than previously imagined. Focusing on specific productions and physical staging at the three theatres operating in the first years of the Restoration – Vere Street, Bridges Street and Lincoln’s Inn Fields – Keenan analyses stage directions, scene headings and other performance clues embedded in the play-texts themselves. These close readings shed new light on staging practices of the period, building a radical new model of early Restoration staging. Restoration Staging, 1660–74 takes account of all extant new plays written for or premiered at three of London’s early theatres, presenting a much-needed reassessment of early Restoration drama.

The Lucky Ones Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
The Lucky Ones is a collection of stories gathered from the wartime experiences of a few US airmen who served in the 8th Air Force Bomb Groups in England during WWII. The stories in this collection, narrated by the airmen themselves, recount the harrowing adventures the airmen endured in their most trying missions over Europe. These are stories of encounters with enemy fighters, struggles to control flak-damaged planes, grueling crash landings, and desperate bail-outs from burning planes. Many airmen, fortunate enough to survive these experiences, were captured by the Germans once on the ground. Their treatment at the hands of their captors is painfully re-told here. Miraculously some airmen managed to evade captivity and escape the Germans, sometimes as an entire crew. In the course of the war, more than 30,000 young Americans lost their lives over Europe. As one airman said: “The real heroes...were the many...who died in combat.” These are the stories of other heroes who survived what seemed certain death. These are the stories of The Lucky Ones.

German Air Force Airlift Operations Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Germany’s imaginative employment of transport aircraft in World War II produced as many innovations as Germany’s use of tanks. Indeed, like the tank, the transport aircraft was closely associated with the Blitzkrieg concept. This relationship was advantageous at the outset of the war, but it became dangerous as the war dragged on and German armies outran their surface supply lines in North Africa and Russia. Then ground commanders began to think of air transport as the means of supply. The history of this trend is one of the main themes of this study, which was first published in its English translation in 1961. Some of the questions embodied in this theme—How much air transport is enough? Under what conditions is an air-supply operation feasible? What are the prerequisites for a successful airlift to encircled ground forces? What are the advantages and limitations of the glider?—are as vital and controversial today as they were during World War II. Generalmajor a. D. Fritz Morzik, who began his military career as a non-commissioned officer in the German Air Service in World War I and ended it as Armed Forces Chief of Air Transport in World War II, is especially well-qualified to write the present study. His long career, spanning two world wars, and his experience with both civilian and military transport aircraft testify to the breadth of his practical knowledge.
