Out of Darkness-Light Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Canada has a rich and interesting military intelligence history, one that continues to grow at a rapidly expanding rate. Intelligence is a key element of operations, enabling commanders to successfully plan and conduct operations. It enables them to win decisive battles and it helps them to identify and attack high value targets. In order to ensure Commanders have the required support they need to plan and conduct operations, members of Canada's Military Intelligence Branch are serving in an increasingly dangerous number of hotspots around the world. In recent years they have served in Bosnia-Herzegovina, Haiti, Somalia, Rwanda, East Timor, and Afghanistan just to name a few. While Intelligence personnel have played a major role in ensuring the successful completion of these interdiction missions, many of their stories remain classified. This history cannot truly be complete until the Official Secrets Act permits a clearer picture to be told. Out of Darkness-Light, Volume 2 should, however, give the interested reader at least a partial view of some of the service that has been carried out on Canada's behalf by the Canadian Forces Intelligence Branch for the years 1983 to 1997.

Meister Eckhart's Book of Darkness & Light Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
“Within each of us is a divine treasure, and if we hope to discover it, we need to go deep into the heart of who we are.” —Meister Eckhart Meister Eckhart has been a huge figure in spirituality for more than eight hundred years—spiritual leaders such as Eckhart Tolle, Richard Rohr, and Matthew Fox have all credited Eckhart as being an important influence on their thought. This book of Meister Eckhart meditations is for people seeking the “wayless way.” It is not for those looking for a simple path. These fresh, stunning renderings of Eckhart’s writings in poetic form bring life to one of the great spiritual voices of any age. They reveal what it means to love God and find meaning in darkness. Not darkness in general, but your darkness, because it is the one thing you know something about—without facing your darkness, you’ll never know what it means to desire the light. Only when you are in the darkness, Meister says, do you have even the possibility of seeing the light. “What Coleman Barks has done for Rumi, Sweeney and Burrows have done for Eckhart—making his insight accessible and his wisdom sing.” —Carl McColman, author of The New Big Book of Christian Mysticism and Eternal Heart “Sweeney and Burrows, in poems that are as elegant as they are scholarly, revoice Meister Eckhart’s grounding and expansive instructions to ‘seek the light that shines / out of the darkness.’” —Pádraig Ó Tuama, poet and host of Poetry Unbound, from On Being Studios

Dark Light of the Soul Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
Dark Light of the Soul explores the inner journeys of Jacob Boehme, the seventeenth-century Protestant mystic, and C.G. Jung, the twentieth-century depth psychologist. Each was concerned with the immediacy of experience, yet comprehended the importance of spirit as a transforming presence in human life. Kathryn Wood Madden connects the experiences of these two pioneers, focusing on a "ground of being that contains all opposites in potentiality." She examines those experiences from the perspective of depth psychology and religion, offering meaningful insights for anyone on a path of inner development, as well as for professionals in clinical settings. "If, as I contend, a unitary reality underlies all psychological experience, then as clinicians we ignore the 'spiritual realm and the divine' at the risk of the total psychic health of those in our care" --Kathryn Madden Dark Light of the Soul will be of interest to all therapeutic clinicians and anyone who wishes a deeper understanding of and fresh paths into the human psyche. CHAPTERS: Unitary Reality Distinctions between Psychology and Religion Radical Otherness Jung and the Pleroma When Deep Calls unto Deep The Self: Uniting Opposites Meeting Clinical Otherness Trauma, Dreams, and Resistance to Otherness Soul Retrieval: The Lonely One Through the Air Hole

American Sunshine Book in PDF, Epub and Kindle
In the second half of the nineteenth century, American cities began to go dark. Hulking new buildings overspread blocks, pollution obscured the skies, and glass and smog screened out the health-giving rays of the sun. Doctors fed anxities about these new conditions with claims about a rising tide of the "diseases of darkness," especially rickets and tuberculosis. In American Sunshine, Daniel Freund tracks the obsession with sunlight from those bleak days into the twentieth century. Before long, social reformers, medical professionals, scientists, and a growing nudist movement proffered remedies for America’s new dark age. Architects, city planners, and politicians made access to sunlight central to public housing and public health. and entrepreneurs, dairymen, and tourism boosters transformed the pursuit of sunlight and its effects into a commodity. Within this historical context, Freund sheds light on important questions about the commodification of health and nature and makes an original contribution to the histories of cities, consumerism, the environment, and medicine.

Life is so much more than just searching for happiness, it's about learning to live in the moment."Embrace the journey through life with author Dane Thomas in his second book entitled Light in the Darkness.
